Routine Electrical Maintenance for your Home

Electricity lights your home, maintains comfortable temperatures, keeps your food from spoiling, and even powers the devices you use for entertainment. Needless to say, you and your family depend on the electrical system that powers your Harris County home on a constant basis. Like most people, however, you probably don’t pay much attention to your electrical system – that is, until there’s a problem. But like any other technology, electricity needs to be properly maintained.

Here’s a look at four reasons why hiring Double G Electric to perform routine electrical maintenance is so important.

The Woodlands, TX

Catch Problems Early

Most homeowners don’t pay attention to their electrical system until something goes wrong; the lights start flickering, fuses keep blowing, or the electrical outlets feel hot to the touch, for example. These types of situations are serious and require emergency electrical services; however, with routine electrical maintenance, these types of issues can be detected early and can be corrected before they become serious problems. A licensed and experienced The Woodlands, TX electrician will perform a thorough assessment of the entire system, and if any issues are spotted, they can be repaired before they progress to the point that they become an emergency.

Improved Safety

Nothing is more important than your safety, and a malfunctioning electrical system can put your safety at risk. Frayed wires, sparks, and shorts can not only cause injuries, but they can also cause electrical fires. The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) estimates that 51,000 home structure fires occur in the United States each year, and these fires injure approximately 1,400 people, and sadly, claim the lives of nearly 500 people.

To ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones, routine electrical maintenance is an absolute must. A reputable The Woodlands, TX electrician will inspect every component of the electrical system that powers your Harris County home. If any signs of trouble are detected, Double G Electric makes the necessary repairs, thereby preventing the risk of accidents that could result in serious or even life-threatening injuries.

Improved Efficiency

When electrical equipment is properly maintained, it functions more efficiently. Therefore, if you want to ensure your Harris County home’s electrical system is running as efficiently as possible, you’re definitely going to want to have a The Woodlands, TX electrician perform electrical maintenance services on a regular basis. A credible electrician near you will repair any components that are damaged or that are showing signs of wear-and-tear, which will put less strain on the system, and in turn, will allow the system to function as efficiently as possible.

Cost Savings

Like a lot of Harris County homeowners, you might be under the impression that routine electrical maintenance services are an unnecessary expense; however, in reality, having your system maintained on a regular basis can actually save you a decent amount of money. Electrical maintenance will improve the efficiency of the system, which translates to lower utility bills. Since underlying issues can be detected and corrected before they become major problems that require more extensive – and expensive repairs – and reduce the risk of serious situations, such as electrical fires, which, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), causes more than $1.3 billion in property damage each year, routine electrical maintenance can help you save a tremendous amount of money in the long run. Plus, a reputable The Woodlands, TX electrician will charge fair and affordable prices, which will absolutely make the maintenance services they provide a worthwhile investment.

Some information about The Woodlands, TX

The Woodlands is a master planned community and census-designated place (CDP) in the U.S. state of Texas in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area. The Woodlands is primarily located in Montgomery County, with portions extending into Harris County. In 2021, The Howard Hughes Corporation estimated the population of The Woodlands was 119,000. At the 2010 U.S. census, its population was 93,847, up from 55,649 at the 2000 U.S. census.

The Woodlands was conceived after the oil industry investor George P. Mitchell attended a symposium by the Rouse Company subsidiary American City Corporation and developer of Columbia, Maryland on how to develop new towns using the HUD Title VII program. It was dedicated by George P. Mitchell in 1974 and managed by The Woodlands Corporation as an extension of Mitchell Energy & Development. Mitchell, an oil businessman, planned to establish a conference center, hotels, office parks, retail malls, schools, large distribution centers, and golf courses. Houses would range from moderately priced to expensive and large. Bill Schadewald of the Houston Business Journal said that Mitchell wanted the development to ‘entice city slickers looking for far-flung suburban quality of life’. Schadewald said that local sources stated that the HUD New Town program, a federally funded program, had a ‘low survival rate’ and questioned whether The Woodlands would succeed.

The Woodlands Corporation was acquired on July 31, 1997, by a partnership between Morgan Stanley and Crescent Real Estate Equities. In December 2003, Rouse Company acquired Crescent’s interest, and Rouse was bought by General Growth Properties on November 12, 2004. In 2011, The Woodlands was sold to the Howard Hughes Development Corporation.

The land was previously occupied by the Grogan-Cochran Lumber Mill, hence Grogan’s Mill and Cochran’s Crossing neighborhoods, called ‘villages’. The original planning utilized many of the planning concepts and design consultants employed in other well-regarded new communities of that era such as Columbia, Maryland, Irvine Ranch, California and Reston, Virginia. The original development plan included environmental design principles espoused by Ian McHarg, a distinguished landscape architect, teacher and author of the seminal work Design With Nature.
