Routine Electrical Maintenance for your Home

Electricity lights your home, maintains comfortable temperatures, keeps your food from spoiling, and even powers the devices you use for entertainment. Needless to say, you and your family depend on the electrical system that powers your Harris County home on a constant basis. Like most people, however, you probably don’t pay much attention to your electrical system – that is, until there’s a problem. But like any other technology, electricity needs to be properly maintained.

Here’s a look at four reasons why hiring Double G Electric to perform routine electrical maintenance is so important.

Catch Problems Early

Most homeowners don’t pay attention to their electrical system until something goes wrong; the lights start flickering, fuses keep blowing, or the electrical outlets feel hot to the touch, for example. These types of situations are serious and require emergency electrical services; however, with routine electrical maintenance, these types of issues can be detected early and can be corrected before they become serious problems. A licensed and experienced Pearland, TX electrician will perform a thorough assessment of the entire system, and if any issues are spotted, they can be repaired before they progress to the point that they become an emergency.

Improved Safety

Nothing is more important than your safety, and a malfunctioning electrical system can put your safety at risk. Frayed wires, sparks, and shorts can not only cause injuries, but they can also cause electrical fires. The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) estimates that 51,000 home structure fires occur in the United States each year, and these fires injure approximately 1,400 people, and sadly, claim the lives of nearly 500 people.

To ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones, routine electrical maintenance is an absolute must. A reputable Pearland, TX electrician will inspect every component of the electrical system that powers your Harris County home. If any signs of trouble are detected, Double G Electric makes the necessary repairs, thereby preventing the risk of accidents that could result in serious or even life-threatening injuries.

Improved Efficiency

When electrical equipment is properly maintained, it functions more efficiently. Therefore, if you want to ensure your Harris County home’s electrical system is running as efficiently as possible, you’re definitely going to want to have a Pearland, TX electrician perform electrical maintenance services on a regular basis. A credible electrician near you will repair any components that are damaged or that are showing signs of wear-and-tear, which will put less strain on the system, and in turn, will allow the system to function as efficiently as possible.

Cost Savings

Like a lot of Harris County homeowners, you might be under the impression that routine electrical maintenance services are an unnecessary expense; however, in reality, having your system maintained on a regular basis can actually save you a decent amount of money. Electrical maintenance will improve the efficiency of the system, which translates to lower utility bills. Since underlying issues can be detected and corrected before they become major problems that require more extensive – and expensive repairs – and reduce the risk of serious situations, such as electrical fires, which, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), causes more than $1.3 billion in property damage each year, routine electrical maintenance can help you save a tremendous amount of money in the long run. Plus, a reputable Pearland, TX electrician will charge fair and affordable prices, which will absolutely make the maintenance services they provide a worthwhile investment.

Some information about Pearland, TX

Pearland is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within Brazoria County, with portions extending into Fort Bend and Harris counties. The city of Pearland is a principal city within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area. At the 2010 U.S. census, the city’s population was 91,252, up from a population of 37,640 at the 2000 census. Pearland’s population growth rate from 2000 to 2010 was 142 percent, which ranked Pearland as the 15th-fastest-growing city in the U.S. during that time period, compared to other cities with a population of 10,000 or greater in 2000. Pearland is the third-largest city in the Greater Houston area, and from 2000 to 2010, ranked as the fastest-growing city in Greater Houston and the second-fastest-growing city in Texas. Per the American Community Survey of 2019 the population had risen to an estimated 131,448.

Pearland had its beginnings near a siding switch on the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway in 1882. When a post office was established in 1893, the community was named ‘Mark Belt’. On September 24, 1894, the plat of ‘Pear-Land’ was filed with the Brazoria County courthouse by Witold von Zychlinski, a man of Polish nobility. At the time Pearland had many fruits harvested by residents. Zychlinski saw the pear trees and decided that ‘Pearland’ would make a good name for the community.

In the 1800s, Pearland consisted of prairie. Residents harvested fruit and vegetables such as cantaloupes, corn, figs, pears and watermelons. Pearland was promoted by developers Allison & Richey Land Company as an ‘agricultural Eden’. The first subdivision was called ‘Suburban Gardens’.

The Galveston hurricane of 1900 and the Galveston hurricane of 1915 destroyed most of the city’s fruit trees and slowed growth for a considerable period of time, and caused a period of desertification in the area. In 1914, with agriculture rebounding and the end of desertification, Pearland had a population of 400, but a devastating freeze in 1918 was another setback to the local farming enterprises. Oil was discovered nearby in 1934, which led to the development of the Hastings Oilfield, though it did not spur much growth, as the population fluctuated between 150 and 350. In the 1930s and 1940s, Pearland had many dance halls and beer joints that entertained people from the Hastings and Manvel oil fields.
