Signs You Need to Schedule an Appointment with a Jersey Village, TX Residential Electrician

From lighting your way when the sun goes down to powering your appliances, and from keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, you depend on the electrical system that powers your Harris County home on a constant basis. Most of the time, your electricity is reliable and functions without any issue; however, just like anything else, your electrical system can experience problems.

Alphabet City, NY

Electrical issues can leave you in the dark, can cause short circuits, and in the worst-case scenario, can even lead to injuries and house fires. To avoid inconveniences, major headaches, and most important, potentially serious dangers, being on the lookout for signs that your electrical system is malfunctioning is important so that you can contact a residential electrician as soon as possible. The following are telltale signs that you need to schedule an appointment with a Jersey Village, TX electrician contractor.

Your Circuits Keep Tripping

It isn’t unusual for a circuit breaker to trip every once in a while – when you’re running to many appliances at one time, for example – a circuit breaker that’s constantly tripping, however, is not normal.

Breakers are designed to trip when circuits are overloaded, which prevents wires from overheating and reduces the risk of a fire. If the breaker in your Harris County home is tripping frequently, that could be a sign that your circuits are overloaded; a problem that needs to be addressed by a residential electrician. A reputable Jersey Village, TX electrician contractor will perform a thorough assessment of your breaker, all of the circuits, and the rest of your electrical system and will properly diagnose and correct the problem.

Flickering Lights

If any lights in your Harris County home are flickering, try changing the light bulb. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, then the flickering could be the result of a problem with the wiring; for instance, a wire could be frayed or there may be an issue with the connection.

Flickering lights are more than just annoying; more importantly, they can be potentially dangerous. If any of your lights repeatedly brighten and dim, turn off the light in question and call a residential electrician. A licensed and experienced Jersey Village, TX electrician contractor will be able to accurately detect and correct the problem.

Odd Noises

Are you hearing strange noises coming out of any of the outlets in your Harris County house? Crackling, sizzling, buzzing, or anything else that seems unusual? If so, that’s a definite cause for concern. Electrical outlets should never emit any noise. If you hear something coming from an outlet, the wiring may be loose or faulty, or there may be issues with the amount of amps the breaker connected to the outlet in question is putting out.

If you notice weird noises coming from an outlet, shut off the power to the outlet immediately, and put a call into a Jersey Village, TX electrician contractor right away.

Some information about Jersey Village, TX

Jersey Village is a city in west-central Harris County, Texas, United States, located at U.S. Highway 290, Farm to Market Road 529, and the Southern Pacific Railroad. The city is located in the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. The population was 7,620 at the 2010 census.

The 1936 Harris County highway map indicated several residences in the area. Clark W. Henry owned 1,236 acres (5.00 km2) of land on which he operated F&M Dairy and raised Jersey cattle. Henry discontinued his dairy when his health declined, and he gave the land up so a residential community could be built in 1953. Henry and LeRoy Kennedy, members of the Garden Oaks Baptist Church, began developing the community in February 1954. At first the city had 5 miles (8 km) of streets and drainage, gas, sewage, and water services. Several houses were established along Jersey Drive. The first family moved to the subdivision in late October 1954. The community developed a school, a park, and an 18-hole golf course. Jersey Village incorporated on April 16, 1956, with all 58 votes in favor of incorporation and a volunteer police force. Because of the incorporation, Houston did not incorporate Jersey Village’s territory into its city limits.

In 1961 Jersey Village had 493 residents. On July 6, 1972, Leonard Rauch gave Jersey Village a city hall building; as of 2008 the building is used for the fire department and public works departments. In 1977 the city passed a bond issue, leading it to construct a new city hall, a city garage, a park pavilion, and an expansion of the fire department building. In 1980 the city had 966 residents. In 1982 this figure increased to 4,084. In August 1986 officials announced that the city passed a home rule charter with a passing vote of 306-36. Under a home rule charter Jersey Village gained more taxation and governing powers than it had as a general law city. In 1988 the population increased to 5,143. In 1990 Jersey Village had 4,938 residents.
